How beautiful and mysterious is that string section at the end of Tinker Tailor?!
Very, agreed.

wondered how long it would take for y'all to start talking about present tense. such a good song. definitely in the top 5 of this record, and yeah burn the witch isn't great. I usually skip it, feels very out of place here. especially as the opening track.
|
| |
What if it's not Burn the Witch the one that is out of place, but rather the rest of the tracks?

I usually skip Burn the Witch, it’s not bad but as people have said it doesn’t really fit the album and something sounds kinda off. Ending of Tinker Tailor is so good yea.

Wow that was subversive alexander

Yes, more love for The Numbers & Tinker-TSSRMPMBMT!

Those two are the only mediocrities here. Good thing Glass Eyes and True Love Waits are here as well.

I think True Love Waits is actually really boring. It has some of Thom's best lyrics to date but it isn't especially interesting to listen to.

yea I dont think I've heard this version of true love waits more than 5 times in my entire life. The acoustic version, however, wouldve been an easy highlight here

The acoustic version borderline sucks.

Only heard the version here and can't imagine an acoustic version being better.

It isn't. It just sounds like something from The Bends.

The acoustic version is solid but this one is more interesting and unique.

Yes, yes and yes.

I mean, I think True Love Waits on this record is simple and devastating. I have nothing against simple - Radiohead has kind of made a career out of patching the simple and the avant garde together. The fact that they can ditch that second influence and still wreak havok on you - that's always been one of their greatest strengths.
