He probably decided that singing the old songs with old power is enough strain, so he needs some stuff that's easy for him. Singing incredibly hard songs you're uncomfortable with every night will turn you into something like James LaBrie

Jambi is excellent yea, mainly cause of Chancellor's bass effects and Adam's solo. Intension is one of their best too.
