Didn't Meshuggah inspire the creation of 'djent'?

bruh thall is a genre on rateyourmusic haha. not sure if that is widespread enough to differentiate but yeah found it amusing.

"the turn it's taken in the past like 5 years has become something so dull, sterile and predictable."
I agree and I apologize for being catty, but yes imo this kind of music becomes radio static and doesn't keep my attention, like watching a software developer say every line of code in their program. "Post-djent" (if that's even a thing now) I have the same feelings about, nothing interesting and particularly memorable or profound, if anything I just liked a couple bands that came out of that sound initially, my tastes are sprinkled all over the place

never been a fan of piecharts on this site and can honestly say I've never cared about others', I only converse in comments and reviews

They're more atmospheric than modern metalcore honestly fun stuff.
And yeah misha(periphery) built up his band by posting on meshuggah fan forms, he's one of the first guys to post documentation of his production style/one of the first to do diy tutorials on YouTube hence why his sound can be heard in most modern metal bands(cause a lot of the more "progressive" ones start out as bedroom projects)

it was a dumb meaningless inside joke between the members of vildhjarta. back in the early days they just posted the word everywhere with their music (still do? idk) then when they blew up in recent years and bands started copying their sound there's now an emerging genre named after it. i sorta feel the same way about it that i do about meshuggah and djent where generally only the og band really works for me, but maybe there's some bands coming i'll dig similar to the few djent bands i like. i support it as a genre tho it feels distinctly different from djent - sorta like maximalist djent that started fraying at the seams

thall is like the music equivalent of a game like Scorn to me. with that said, only a few bands pull it off well. Vildhjarta's latest being a really really good "experimental" example.
