Black metal is good when the production isn't terrible, normal death metal tends to not do much actual sonic evolution - a lot of osdm sounds the exact same as itself, folk tends to have too "normal" sounding vox, and power metal is just cheesy dragon slaying war anthems that sound too happy.
also you 1.5'd monotheist when that's exactly the sound i feel "true metal" should be striving towards
