yeah I guess with the word “better” I meant that everything this album is attempting to do, I can find done with more character and a more unique “voice” in something else.

if I only found value in the “best of the best” I would only ever listen to 5 star classic albums, which obviously isn’t the case.

in practice what I’m trying to say is that, when I get the itch to listen to this style of music, I can’t imagine myself actively choosing this one over the alternatives, if that makes sense.

You are asking for too much I think, given the average attention span is 8 seconds nowadays. Imagine kids jumping from a screen with constant flashing lights and colors to a black and white paper where you must make an effort to imagine and follow characters at the same time.
