Yeah, I can echo the notions of Cold Burn being a fucking beast live. I saw the last Saturday ad it was a complete annihilation!! Also Blood Upon Stone as closer was the final climax of an amazing 4 days festival. This album is absolutely up there with their master pieces and is severely underrated here!

Giving this another shot to get it out of 3.8 territory

side note, i've come to really appreciate this band's vocalist, his screams are so emotional and expressive, and have just enough hint of the shouted hardcore vox that defines post-metal

This album is sick, still my favorite, although I haven't heard the first 2 or any of the EP's yet. Cold Burn, Silver Arc, Long Road North, and Blood Upon Stone are incredible...

Klas is irreplicable but Johannes has stepped up in a big way on their material since his departure. And fwiw Johannes still does the old parts well live, even if there's a noticeable difference

@octagon I got into these guys after Klas had left and for the longest time I always thought it was the same dude, just assuming his voice matured or changed at some point between EK and Vertikal from doing nothing but throat-ripping screams constantly

I can see why this might be the easiest to digest for newcomers (outside of perhaps Mariner - which is a collab, so I don't really count it anyway). Diminishing returns relative to pretty much all their previous output, for me. Hit the hardest early on.
