This always got too much hate imo, especially Animals.
Sure it lacks the raw emotion from something like Holy Hell and especially AOGHAU, and it led its awful successor. But it itself has its own share of strong tracks that have stood the test of time as iconic Architects tracks. There are inspired little moments in most if not every track here.
Barring some repetitive tracks, for a first try at something more Pop and less Metalcore, this was a successful attempt. I think I like this more than the forced ''heavy stuff'' they're releasing as singles these days. Aged pretty well overall.

Citing Holy Hell as a better album doesn't make this look good tbh
But I am willing to give this another try. Can't really remember anything here tbh

Looking back I do still really enjoy Animals, dead butterflies, Black Lungs and Goliath (props to Simon on that). There are some cool moments in other tracks so ye I agree people hated on it too much, but as someone who loves their work up until HH, this is still pretty disapointing

This is actually not as bad. I listened to the live abbey road version a fair bit when i was doing mindless tasks, so it grew on me tbh.

this is probably the best take on their post-Holy Hell style but is too long, cut some of the fat and it's a 4

Worst song here

Track is nice, specially the breakdown/bridge section with the china reverberating through that choppy guitar riff
But regardless I think it's their first successful "non-Tom" Architects song, where they succeeded on a new sound, unlike HH where they are still trying to "emulate" and feed off of his song writing (I hope this doesn't come off as insensitive, I mean it in a good way)

Its been nearly a decade since he passed, while it is tragic i think we are passed the sensitivity side of things. Holy hell oddly has some pretty banging tracks in retrospect tbh. This is much better than the one that followed

Holy Hell actually ripped too. It’s an album the band needed to write to really close the chapter.

as time has gone on i think their last album was stronger than this, but they've both held up pretty well.

You're all crazy
I always say I should give this another try, but I really don't have the time for potentially bad music atm, otherwise I would do this little trip down memory lane and either like this vand again or write a rant for my blog only 2 people would read lol
