I ordered the bonus track version but it hasn't shipped yet. Had no idea the song was floating around out there.

I haven’t heard “The Lakes” yet but really want to. Too bad it is only on the physical edition because with my budget, not sure I want to buy the album again for 1 song.

I heard it on youtube (well, kind of, a Swifty posted a Google Drive link to it in the description).

Yeah I found it. Very pretty and would be one of the better songs on an album I already have rated a 5.

I'm going there fellas. 5'd. Gosh this record is beautiful. It's just grown to the point where, while it is a long record, I adore every song here and The Lakes just bumps it even further. It's surpassed 1989 which, as with the release of the album itself, I never saw coming.

Still haven't heard The Lakes but I'm hoping it will be exactly what I need to trim this to the 5/5 12-song album that it always should have been. ;-)

Just seems terribly dull to me. It's practically ambient music. I may just not be in the target audience for lo-fi indie pop though.

why do people itt keep refering to this as lo-fi ?

I guess they think slow = lo-fi

Lo-fi has lost all meaning. lol People will be like "lofi hip-hop" and show you those perfectly high fidelity jazz rap instrumentals and that irks me a bit. Like lo-fi should only be a means to addressing recording/production quality or lack thereof. This is produced ultra-pristinely with tons of money behind it, so not even slightly lo-fi.
Also, there is so much more exciting and interesting folk/indie pop/whatever than this, so don't let this turn you off of the whole sound, Blonde.

But one of the 20 samples on this rap album has a crackly noise in it, it has to be lo-fi
|

I know little enough about lo-fi hip-hop to not want to wade in, but also yes 100% [2]

Good point about "lo-fi", it doesn't actually apply here. Its current synonymity with "slow chillin-out music" is the fault of Youtube streamers, apparently.
