on second thought, Obsidian as the bookend would be fantastic. just start with Gothic and make your way up. this band has a lot of different styles, enjoy the ride

Yeah, you might as well go in chronological order. Hope you'll find the stylistic shifts interesting.

Seriously, this album has not diminished an iota since it came out. The first 4 tracks are absolutely flawless

Even the bonus tracks are essential

I thought they weren’t as good as the standard tracklist but they’ve grown on me over the years

"I thought they weren’t as good as the standard tracklist but they’ve grown on me over the years"
Defiler definitely fits for a bonus song if you feel what I mean, but I instantly thought Hear the Night was one of the album's best. Probably in my top 3 with Fall From Grace and Ravenghast

Cannot get over how staggering The Devil Embraced is when that organ bit comes in. “There’s nothing more to lose the pain is over, there’s nothing more to lose now it’s over” Absolutely fucking amazing guitar, “To enslave, extinction of self worth”

>British gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST have parted ways with Finnish drummer Waltteri Väyrynen and have replaced him with Guido Montanarini (STRIGOI)

Damn shame, he was probably the best drummer they had, but oh well, not like we didn't see it coming

Good drumming was never an aspect of PL, they just need someone who can hold a slow beat.
|
| |
Nah I disagree, after Archer they had plenty of good dudes like Morris' tastefully professional style or Damin's technical prowess in FDU (by far their best drumming album imo).
Vayrynen was really fun in Obsidian, I'm a bit bummed he left. But hey at least I've got some patriotism going for Montanarini ahah

Yeah fair enough, he was good. But I feel it doesn't take a lot.
Montanarini is a cool name, what does it mean?
