there's so much dead air in this that I lose interest within the first 15 minutes every time I try to spin it'



See for me if youre going to listen to it then you have to be prepared to sit the whole 80 odd mins. If youre not going to then just dont bother. The 'dead air' makes sense on a whole sitting. Its a piece of music. A long one. A funeral doom one! If you dont like it fine but bailing out because youre bored means your missing the point in the first place.

Not really though. If you listened to it all and dont like it, you at least give the time intended by the band for any of that so called 'empty space' to make sense amongst the whole, so then of course thats fine if you dont like it. Just as any one doesnt like or likes different pieces of music. But to not take the whole thing in and THEN decide if you like or not seems totally pointless to me when its a one song hour plus piece. Its like going to a comedy club and walking out half way through the first joke.

Thats not whats happening though is it because the piece or bit has all ready started. So its more like if a comedian paused half way through a joke, And comparing the length of a joke to an 80 min record in this instance its more so like a comedian stopping in the middle of a joke for a pause of which is part of the bit but not waiting the time to see if you like the rest on the joke or punchline and walking. In that case why even go? You know what you signed up for as any one should do going into a FD record.
