yeah this just makes me think of stealth christian music with the reverb on everything yet vocals being the loudest part and also the front bottoms w/ super forced wordy ~quirky~ hooks. super disappointing. note that i have METN as a 5 or 4.5 idr

@ash, i don't entirely agree with that moniker myself for the record. only sort of.

i wish they would focus more on instrumentals on an album and andy would do super buried, desolate vocals. they could even use all the orchestral shit still but like just do an album where i don't feel like i'm supposed to only hear andy hull chanting at me n shit

Hardly a fanboy cause it's the first album I heard of these guys. I get a lot of Silversun Pickups vibes here, which is a band I really like and the production on this is amazing. That said, I do love reverb.

He doesn't feel like a highlight on this at all.

i do not agree but i'm glad you hear it that way. with METN his presence was still v much there but he was way more successful at makinf it feel vital to the songs. now to me it just feels like ayyyyy it's me you'll love it rite

always happens whenever an album gets a lot of positive attention. youll have some of those who disagree come in and fight their noble crusade to let everyone know its not actually good, and that people enjoying something bothers them.



obviously not all those hating on the album are like that, but some seem like they just want to rain on everyones parade.

I may sound a bit biased cuz I gave this a 5, but I think that several (Not all of them) lower grades like 1's or 2's were given because lots of people were pissed off about this having a 4.4-4.3 avg.
