I still haven't heard this outside the first two singles. I think it's because I'm sort of expecting the worst.

The drumming on The Cell is simply orgasmic, love the speed there.

Yeah, The Cell is by far my favourite here.

Great album. Gojira's sound might be more simplistic now, but the emotional weight and songwriting here are still what make the music work in my opinion

Fuck terrorism so hard.

I can't deny the fact that 'Magma' is a good album. However, while i was listening to it i hope that the aggressive side of the album would be more. Duplantier's clean vocal didn't have too much on me to be honest. Still, it was interesting to listen to it. Their creativity and that intensity have lost nothing. It's a worth to discover 'Magma' 3.55

The songwriting has always been what makes Gojira good though. I've never once listened to Gojira for the "emotional weight". I just can't help but feel really underwhelmed when I listen to most of these tracks. They all have that traditional Gojira skeleton but rarely do they do more to expand on that basic riff.

Better than "L'Enfant", but lacking the immediacy of earlier records. It's short length and two (for me, anyway) throwaway instrumentals make the album feel incomplete. Favorite track is the opener.

I think the short length is one of its best features. Sirius is a cracking album but is so difficult to sit through due to the unrelenting heaviness over such a long period of time
Shooting Star is great though agreed, the ending part is mesmerising

Shooting Star and especially the t/t are the best here.

So what's everybody's final thoughts on this? I'm having a hard time warming up to this album. I really like Shooting Star, Silvera and Stranded, but every other song bores me. Album feels like a missed opportunity to me, and maybe they overhyped the "emotional" aspect of the album a bit too much.
