I'm doin a run from Red Sky to Terminal since I've only heard SotS and after, but they weren't really doing much for me, so I'm giving all 3 another go around today, and it's hitting a lot better
Also, I think a big part of it was the youtube rips I was listening to. They were listed as 'remastered,' but by the actual youtuber that posted it, and I did not read the fine print at first

Well there are the fan remasters of And Justice For All where they actually make you able to hear the bass.
There's also the demos that Nate leaked after Finch broke up for the second and final time of Phantasma which got cleaned up by a fan who did a pretty decent job at it.
But outside of those instances I cannot think of any reason to jam a fan remaster.

plenty of albums i've dug over the years have had shit mastering so i don't see the problem with fan remasters, particularly Black Flag's My War and PJ Harvey's Rid of Me

you can just EQ it yourself and it does the same thing.
without the original stems there’s very little you can actually do to change anything significantly.
