I think the reason most modern pop/rap artists say their name in a song is because modern pop/rap is so unoriginal and generic that it all sounds the same and saying their name in a song is the only way for people to distinguish them, it's sad.

Everyone should just STOP listening to mainstream music and (depending on your taste) should listen to these for 1 MONTH:

Metal: Gojira, Soilwork, Opeth
Progressive rock: Porcupine tree, King crimson, Pink Floyd (and every other rock band from the 70's)
Rap: 2pac,Nas, Tech N9ne, Lauryn Hill
Pop: Michael Jackson, Adele
Classical: Beethoven, Mozart and every other legendary composer..

And then try to go back to MTV. Could change somebody's lives : 3
