"doubt it's better than to the beat"

"Rapture" is honestly the biggest soty contender on the album. Love that melody so much

Agreed completely. Skyscraper is also one of the best closers of the year

Really is an amazing closer

i think it takes away any momentum they were trying to build. julien's harmonies are nice but everything about that song is so lazy

fuck no Skyscraper is anything but lazy
still need to listen to the album in full

halfway through new album and damnnnnnnn. pretty good so far, might be my favorite release of theirs
|
| |
new album rules, probably second favorite after ...to the beat
|
| |
its pathetic imo, absolutely dont see what you guys are seeing in it. its just so bland repetitive boring etc
theres a few of jeremy's best moments on it (still strongly dislike him but) but overall its just such a flat, plastic sounding melo-hxc record

yeah pathetic is a great way to describe an album about the death of Jeremy's mom
|
| |
i don't really see how it's bland or repetitive, it's their most varied album and full of great moments

last two songs are bliss

"yeah pathetic is a great way to describe an album about the death of Jeremy's mom"
i sympathize with the situation, but the music is incredibly bland, repetitive, the national-esque song was cringeworthy, instrumentation is really boring, etc
feel bad for the guy, clearly poured a lot into this record, but its boring, hes a shitty faux hxc vocalist, like sorry

how was Skyscraper cringe worthy?
also compared to the rest of their discog the instrumentation is probably the most varied/melodic so idk man. also i see nothing wrong with Jeremy's vox. a lot worse hxc vocalists than him

partially agreed with Starless; premise/inspiration doesn't equal outcome/execution sometimes
I dig it a fair bit more than him, but it doesn't change my overall opinion that TA are one of the most derivative and lackluster bands in this genre/movement on the whole

im not even a huge touche fan but theres many more bands that are more derivative than touche in the scene

you can hate on the production and jeremy's vocal delivery but you certainly can't blame it for being repetitive
