Haha man a lot of hate for this. I'm still really enjoying it. It just has the misfortune of following a masterpiece. It's actually been pretty well received by critics and on it's own it's a fine album.



There's only a few truly fantastic songs on it (sky machine, aeons) but there's not a bad song on here IMO.

Maybe for a first release I would give them more credit for this, but it's just a confusing, uncomfortable and disappointing way to follow up a solid album like Sound Awake.

I can understand how it's disappointing to some people. A lot of the songs aren't as epic as Sound Awake. I, myself, am disappointed that there aren't any 10+ epics like Deadman, Change. The songs also don't have as many hooks as the previous two.



I think they kind of aimed to make it uncomfortable and confusing. The raw production and focus on dissonance makes it uncomfortable at times. I think the actual songwriting is solid though.



They just started their European tour the other day and the setlist is pretty awesome.

I don't know why they didn't play Sky Machine or Eidolon during their Oz tour. Two of the best songs from the album.
