I know this is disgustingly condescending but no offense, it would be difficult to explain the appeal of this to somebody who hasn't ventured outside of mainstream rock/rap, at all (as evidenced by your ratings, unless you listen to very different stuff than those, or unless you're a troll and I'm gullible).

I like radiohead. I love OK computer. I don't think I listen to mainstream music. I am not a troll. I really just want to know what people get out of this album.

do you listen predominately to what you've rated and similar albums? if so, then you listen to music that's very very accessible-- not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, but it sure explains why you don't like this, and that's what you were wondering.

but ok, then read the reviews, especially keelan's. that's why they're there, and they explain it much better than I could for you now.

This isn't near what I listen to. I just don't want to add everything I listen to. That would take a long time.

ok I assumed so, like I said-- but if it's all along the lines of what you do have rated, mainstream rock and alt. rock or whatever, then you listen to very accessible, widely-known mainstream music that's usually very catchy and easy to get into or whatever. once again, nothing wrong with that, but explains why you don't like this yada yada hate repeating myself bleh...

Then wait x amount of time then listen to it again. Eventually you'll learn to like it probably, it takes most people a while to get the gist of exactly what they're listening to. That, or as stupid as it sounds just go read the wikipedia page.

Or read the music reviews provided on sputnikmusic.com to get a feel of why everyone loves it so much.

If something is mainstream it is catchy, not necessarily the other way around. I've never heard a stravinski chart played on a major radio station before.

no, I said if something is mainstream it's usually catchy... that doesn't mean that if something is catchy it's automatically mainstream.

ugh, reading comprehension skills / common sense
