I still don’t dig this overly technical style of death metal too much, but this band has something special that’s grown on me and no other band really does it like them.

agreed as well

This overly technical nonsense kind of started to sound like noise after a while with the exception of Necrophagist, these guys and maybe one other band that I'm forgetting.

i think one thing that massively helps with these guys is that the production isn't toooo fatiguing compared to similar bands. gain on guitars is pretty low so you get the nice clarity

Crimson Massacre is the only other super technical band I really like but their sound isn’t really like this at all, way more evil and less classically influenced

I also think the sound of the drums can have a big impact on the overall enjoyment. If it's all hyperspeed clicking that can get old real quick.

Yeah, production on this is pretty forgiving, especially so considering the genre-standard

Let's not forget the ridiculous bass playing by Erlend Caspersen. Dude's a fucking beast.
