"Reddit thinks this is metalcore”
lol honestly i think the majority of the riffs on here would sound right at home in a metalcore album. it really isn't that far off just needs a more balanced clean/harsh vox ratio, double kick, and the bass turned all the way down
(aka replace everything that makes the album unique with something generic)

It would also need to be a metalcore album. There's definitely some overlap between the two genres but having some riffs and a couple breakdowns does not a mxc album make.

Idk the drums lost a lot of their punch. Just gimme a remaster

I like both versions and I am happy the new version is making me listen again!

it's unfortunate that two of the worst songs on the remaster are Cold Cash and All That's Left, right near the beginning. Gets the whole thing off to a bad start
but it definitely finds its footing as it goes

First full jam of this version of this in a hot minute and ig the nostalgia is deeply cranial because it still hits exactly the same. Perfect time capsule, cannot even imagine how it'd feel to hear for this for the first time today but as far as ultraformative post hardcore records go for me, looks like this one is defining after all

I wish the new one didn't exist

Nah it's cool that the new one exists, glad that they still feel strongly enough about this material to address aspects they've hated all along (even if their performances are mostly pale shadows of the ogs)

I really wish they would've just remixed this instead of rerecording everything

a new one existing literally has no effect on my enjoyment of this

Dead thread. Any of you been to the anniversary tour?

Definitely new mix with old vox cause Dustin honestly sounds like he’s been smoking for 200 years now. He still has vocal chops just doesn’t have a good sounds anymore.

I don't care much for their newer music, but I did see them on the Vheissu anniversary tour and he sounded good. I'm going to the show tonight, but I'm much more excited for Holy Fawn lol.

Hahaha I would be too. Musically I don’t mind them now and honestly still like them but Dustin just sounds like shit in the studio sometimes.

@dbizzles have a blast. Holy Fawn and Thrice kicked ass. My suggestions is to leave once thrice finishes playing through this album. The second half setlist sucks.

“leave after the Artist part of the set”
well idk what they did at your show but at the one I went to we were treated to two Illusion deep cuts, a kickass Beatles cover, and the only song they seemed to be going through the motions of was Black Honey, so
