I remember when the airhead vocalists did a track by track explanation of this album. They made Simple Jack look like Michio Kaku.

An AMA from the bassist of the band, fun to read for a few minutes: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/comments/24opho/i_was_in_design_the_skyline_ama/

Surrounded by Silence was ahead of its time, they did the modern deathcore 32nd notes breakdown and animal noises first

There are now two bands claiming to be Design the Skyline. One, formed by Daniel Garza (one of the original vocalists) and two other OG members, released a new song this week called Beckoning which sounds very CYB era BMTH. The other, with Eric Azure as the sole original member, owns all the band's socials and responded by saying THEY are the real Design the Skyline and that they've started work on a new album (which has been on and off for over a decade now).
It's funny that there are two incarnations fighting over this band name of all things.

I feel like the meme that is Surrounded By Silence gave this album 0 chance. It really isn't THAT bad. Some of the instrumentals are inspired enough. It's passable-ish deathcore with a few little interesting twists here and there, even if the overall execution is extremely mediocre (and these vocals absolutely suck). Break Free From Your Life would've been a legitimately good post-hardcore track with better vocals.
