I mean, I can get being relatively indifferent toward this but flat-out hating it, well that's got to take a special type of person

I'm personally a big fan, but I mean it's just repetitive instrumental hip hop. I don't get why people cream their jeans so hard over this album in particular.

Bought it when it came out, never been bowled over by it. Hipster as fuck record at a time when hipsters were cunts but not almighty cunts.

I guess the fact it’s all samples has people creaming themselves, either because it’s innovative in a genuine sense, or an absurd reverse elitism agenda vs the equally absurd ‘play your own instruments or get f***ed crew’.
Either way it’s just a very good album, nothing extraordinary.

one in a long, grim line of albums that are nowhere near as good as people flog it to be..

I can't even 1 this pile of boredom

to be fair, this guy was one of the first to do something that nowadays, every other prick with an app does because guitars are hard..

yeah, props for being a pioneer and all, but now that I'm that one-in-a-million shmuck to call this "anything but a classic", my humble 1 would hurt nobody, because this album genuinely bored me to tears. it is one of the rare instances, where I tried listening to it again and again, but could not finish it even once. such a dreadful listen. ugh

eh the genre just feels a little boring. in terms of trip hop this is about as dynamic and interesting as you're gonna get... at least from what I've heard in the genre

Dude... Mezzanine
Also it is beyond retarded that Sputnik doesn't allow users to rate albums 1/5 because they're so well-liked. One of the only sites I can think of with a biased rating system. I know it's to dissuade people from troll 1'ing albums, but based on the already staggering total of votes these albums have, you'd be hard pressed to make a dent in the general consensus, unless you literally make hundreds of accounts
