Ashes is a straight up post-metal album...

I pretty much only listened to post-rock for a year and I'd be willing to wager my life that I know more than you do and ever will know about it. Not my fault that you perceive things superficially, don't feel bad though! Know that you're not alone. Btw, name-dropping 'post-rock' is really stupid when talking about a band like Agalloch, especially when looking at the big picture.

all you're doing is saying empty points when you actually have no points at all, so shush.

That's pretty bold from someone who can't even identify it when he hears it.

Need this. I loved PF and The Mantle, but I'm not so much into Ashes. I listened to them in that order, so maybe I'm just getting sick of the band.

After reading that whole debate i think it's pretty safe to say that that Gyro has no idea what post-rock/metal is.

I don't want to be a dick, but people telling me I have little grasp of post-rock is just hilariously ironic. Just because one of their albums was admittedly post-rock influenced it doesn't mean that as a band they are influenced by it on this record. And the argument was that this is "too post-rock"... Bullshit it is.
