Holidays in the Sun, Bodies, Pretty Vacant, God Save the Queen, and especially Anarchy in the U.K. are some of my all time favorite punk songs.... then songs like Liar, Problem, New York and EMI are on the tracklist. Really a missed opportunity to have either God Save the Queen or Anarchy be one of the greatest punk closers ever.

It’s a good meme yeah, it still sucks though, genuinely. As an aside (sort of) identifiable Britishness is actually one of my least favourite things about music. I might award a 3/5 occasionally for the Clash or Arctic Monkeys but that’s my ceiling.

"This is better than any Clash I've ever heard"

If you spun that statement 180 degrees I'd agree.

I don’t rate stuff based on ‘iconic status’... shitty manufactured ‘punk’ album

Since when did "manufacturered" factor heavily into ratings? I personally fucking love these songs songs (except for a few terrible ones in the tracklist) and that's all that matters

Band wasn't manufactured that's just a dumb myth from rolling stone or some shit. Also rock and roll swindle did not help

I do rate things on iconic status, unfortunately this is all it has going for it, thin, pure quality, some comic attitude, but I think it is WAY to overblown, the damned album should have this stature

i think the mid-temponess of this record is partly what sets it apart from a lot of other punk records.

It's easier to understand and it's more accessible than shit like the damned for that reason. Clash weren't blisteringly fast either but they didn't have the same snarl. That and they weren't that punk anyway

As a statement this is completely lost on me.

I can accept that it changed things but ultimately it comes across as fraudulent and is nothing more than hot air from the mouths of the entitled.

Musically devoid of talent, aesthetically contrived and with absolutely no iota of talent among any of them.

Anyone heard NOFX? Band is the shit, they’re a good warm up to arrogant sons of bitches who completely slay but even they are nowhere near the sheer awesomeness of bomb the music industry.
