love the album. So it's more pop-y, who cares ? It's not like Muse has not been a mainstream band before.
Actually, it's my 3rd most favorite album from Muse - right after Absolution and Origin of Symmetry.
much, much better than Black holes and revelations imho.

This album is still sort of catchy at times, but for the most part they downplayed their musicianship to achieve a more accessible sound and a wider audience (although IMO their sound was always accessible). It's poppier instead of rooted in rock, and it was extremely dissappointing to most of the Muse fanbase.

OoS is their best from a technical and musical standpoint, but I found it to be kind of dull for significant chunks of time. Absolution is still outstanding instrumentally, plus it is waay more memorable
