Precisely

"One of the greatest albums ever" does not fit into a 4

nah ford is right. a 4 means you do think its a little overrated considering all the hype it gets but still think its a great album

their cultural impact was undeniable but has been taken to hyperbolic levels

the music is nowhere near classic imo, any of it. I think it's pretty well documented that in mainstream and popular culture this is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. is that incorrect?

if that is true, and you are not rating this as a 4.5 in the very least, or most likely a 5, you disagree with that. maybe you're not subconsciously saying they're overrated, but I don't think it's unreasonable to draw the conclusion from that that you don't agree with the claims of how timeless and classic the music itself is. if you disagree with that then you should prob 5 this!!!!

don't get me wrong, as a historical document, this is probably the most important album of the 90s. the music itself? 4/5

I see your point, the thing that pisses me off about Nirvana are the kids that 'love' them and can only name one or two tracks.

Really does sicken me, without Nirvana god knows where I'd be in terms of musical taste.

I really like a lot of their music. but I like Bleach and In Utero much better. just think the critical and cultural influence and love for this record is highly circumstantial.

I love this album, even though it gets a lot of hate.

nirvana paved the way for radiohead viper. their first album is pretty much a mediocre grunge record

Yeah Bleach and In Utero are better, but because this was so commercialised people see it as Nirvana's defining work.
