I haven’t loved their recent stuff but their first 7 has to be one of the best runs in black metal. New one is really good and their best since Microcosmos

I think the only albums I didn't really care for that much were handful of stars and a furrow cut short

They got a couple I don’t love but it’s mostly because it verges on too folky or the production just doesn’t sound good. I actually think they’ve been on an absolute tear post 2016 with splits and LPs that rivals their original run in quality. Happy to see people diving into their discog these days

huh found this one solid but didn't hit me immediately like forgotten legends did. really like glare of autumn a lot though and the closer is quite beautiful. just didn't find a lot of the heavier parts as memorable, riffing didn't stand out especially. i do like the acoustics and keys though, a nice atmosphere. def need some more listens though.

Melodies on this one are amazing, agree. Sunwheel in particular is so good

didn't really grow much sadly. a worthwhile album though of course. sunwheel i honestly found the main riff a little irritating lol. solo in wind of the night forests is really cool though. def gonna continue on. is forgotten legends an outlier in their discog? felt much heavier.

I can actually kinda see that, but I love Sunwheel. There’s like a small sense of “this is an oddly sugar-y bm riff” that, once you get used to it, makes it a truly standout song imo.

it definitely felt oddly saccharine. think that's it. i'll revisit this one once i listen to a bit more of them i think. see how it stacks up.

I felt the same way about Drudkh as a whole when I first checked them out. Didn’t really get the hype, but these guys have a way of growing on you like crazy.

All their albums are different from each other. I feel like the only two that really sounded kinda similar were the two albums before the newest one. I like the first LP a lot but for me personally they've had quite a few albums better than that one

sweet def excited to check out more. and i also can't state how appreciative i am that there is atmo black that isn't an hour long and overwrought lol. 40 minutes is such a great length.

I love this one, and basically every album up to Microcosmos. I think they lost a bit of their magic after that even if their newer stuff is still pretty good

> 40 minutes is such a great length

Couldn’t agree more. When I see a 60+ runtime I’m always scared that it’s about to be some exhausting slog through padded space for its own sake. That’s not always the case, but it’s enough to put me off. Discogs where most stuff is in the 40 minute range get a bump in my prioritisation.
