some kinda feminine mystique thing, though obviously the word itself troubles the waters. for some reason it feels like I want to mention that dude's autobio is insane and immediately starts off with him calling shit and women "bad" with no context and then after a while you're like oh he very literally means the opposite
with kompy on the rating tho

Like a lot of jazz from this era, it makes slightly more sense if you listen to it in context of what it was reacting to / distancing itself from, but for a blind listening experience it is one of Davis’ less tuneful records.

Huh?!!!
This is actually my 5th fav album of all time. I'll never forget the day I played an old vinyl version for the first time. It was a hot humid summer afternoon and this album started to create such an atmosphere in my room I entered in a close to hypnotic state of mind. Became obsessed with this and now I got the shirt, the anniversary edition and I spin this every month lol

This hit hard very early on but has been slightly less enticing since. Still very good mind. I’m yet to find a Davis record that lives up to Coltrane’s or Mingus’s peaks

Despite being considered one of the first, if not the first Jazz Fusion album, it does sound very different to the rest of the Jazz Fusion canon.

Album blew my mind first time I heard it and I'm still picking up the pieces. The run Miles had from '65 - '74 is some of the best music ever made. I love his late 50s work too, but albums like this are more innovative and memorable imo. Things really got spicy once he was willing to experiment.
