Then we're talking Mosquito Control and The Red Sea - and not many people have actually heard those EP's.

Mosquito Control and The Red Sea
Those EP's were by Isis, though, right?
|
| |
Yes, exactly. They're in a totally different musical style than what ISIS started making on Celestial and perfected on Oceanic.
The Red Sea and Mosquito Control was incredibly heavy sludge metal without much bullshit. Short-ish songs, heavy riffs, lots of screaming and feedback.

They're actually not that different compared to Celestial.
Not the sound, perhaps, but on Celestial, ISIS started using post-rock song structures exclusively where they before adhered to almost freeform songwriting. They started becoming a lot more focused in the way they built up their songs and it defintely shows.
But yes, the 2 EPs are actually pretty awesome, if a bit unpolished.

Finally got through this band's discography (minus the first two albums) a few times and I'm pretty sure this is still my favorite from them. It's unbelievable how fucking consistent they are though.

Anyways, like I said, the consistency of this band is crazy. They're easily becoming one of my favorites.
