Oh well, just found out about this band. Gave it a 4,5 after listening to only the last song. Feels like I might like the others.

Yeah one of the best post-rock albums around. I'd say this one is the most influential since it came out, of the past 15 years.

I honestly have no idea how this gets hate. It's an indisputable post-rock classic. This album is basically genre defining

I think a lot of people may hear other post-rock before hearing this, and then they get to this and it sounds the same as all of the other bands that aped off of it.

A lot of people see this as "Post-Rock by numbers" but this was the original painting all the other copies are based off of.

I mean, this is arguably a lot "simpler" than a lot of post-rock that came before it (Talk Talk, Godspeed, and so on) so I definitely see why people say they simplified the formula. The original post-rock brought rock in an interesting new direction...this is just ambient rock basically...gorgeous stuff nonetheless.

true.

this is so carefully and delicately constructed though, quite unlike a lot of the copycats, and so captured something special that they didn't, despite its simplicity

i discovered them on friday night lights and am really emotionally attached to some of the songs, as both the show and their music accompanied some important moments of my life. however, tbh their latest albums suck really hard; the one with yellow door esp.
