I do need to give Oceania another go though, and see if it's got anything redeemable.

the first disc is a 5 the second is like 3.5 ... the first disc is to me the best disc they have ever released... jammed the other day and porcelina won;t get out of my head... iha's vocals blow

They about equal in my opinion. The 2nd disc has just as many classics. Iha's vocals really aren't so great, so I agree

there.

yeah i agree there are some killer tracks on 2nd disc.. but the worst song on disc 1 is still darn good.. the 2nd has some dull and sub par moments... i enjoy this album more than I do any other by them even if it isn't their best overall

Imo Iha's vocals are cool, and 'Take me Down' is awesome and the the perfect closer for disc 1. I sure as hell couldn't imagine Corgan singing that song.

Every one of my friends hates 1979 even though it's one of the best pop songs ever

One of them admits to hating it solely because it has programmed drums

First disc is definitely better than the second for me but I have grown to unabashedly love X.Y.U.

Not to mention that Thru the Eyes of Ruby is arguably my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs.
