Yeah, saying it’s a weak link is bizarre to me. There’s not a bad song on the album, and I would still list Savers as one of my favorite tracks here.

Savers is an album highlight, the weak link is Shit That You Hate

Honestly no weak links for me. Shit That You Hate is one of my favorites. Used to not dig Hurricane Waves for some reason. Just jammed this again though, and I definitely love that song. The guitar on that track is insane.

Hurricane Waves is such an underrated track and definitely one of the best on the album. The outro is one of the band's best moments!

still working on the new Rosenstock record but while i dont think the comparisons to this are necessarily unwarranted, it certainly doesn't reach the same heights as this. additionally i think Vacation's production worked a lot better on record than NO DREAM's, which honestly feels like it would sound a hell of a lot better live just because of how fucking loud it's produced.
idk say what you want but jr was a much better musician before "going solo"

This shits on the new one. And any solo Rosenstock for that matter.

"idk say what you want but jr was a much better musician before "going solo""
I mean, yeah. but the renaissance is still pretty tight. like, I don't really like We Cool that much but it brought on a massive new groundswell of fans who then went back and discovered Bomb and ASOB stuff, and that rules. his career wouldn't be the same without that and the following albums

personally i never feel negatively about an artist being "not as good as they used to be" if the new stuff is still great. and imo every jr solo record has been fuckin great, so zero complaints here, even if its not on the same level as the older stuff. only thing that bothers me is that it seems like pre-solo jeff has become a lil overlooked and passed over by the wider music community in favour of his new stuff, which became very much apparent when a lotta ppl and publications last year were like "WORRY is the best punk record of the decade!" when...y'know...vacay also came out in that decade. it seems my feelings are not totally idiosyncratic given this article https://medium.com/@elischoop/its-time-to-give-bomb-the-music-industry-their-due-175d61366a9e
but yea sooooooo glad for jeff's success ofc and the fact that he's now able to get his name, his art, and his positive ideologies out further than ever before. also i feel like the fact that theres a great movie about BTMI is helpful for convincing new fans that that band was something really really special rather than just jeff's old, weird, unsuccessful, obscure, and therefore less interesting band

Without Worry I'm not sure I would have ever warmed up to BTMI. I remember listening to GCW for the first time and noping out almost immediately. You gotta admit, maybe aside from this, this stuff is wild and very out there. Now I think it's amazing. Nothing like it. But his solo records take the heart of BTMI and make it a little more approachable and accessible.
