for me this is the most inoffensive deftones album. don't really love it or hate it, just think it's solidly fine. very few moments on this record make me feel anything

Nah I get it too. There’s a couple of duds here for me but I think there’s a few tracks here that are among their best. Hearts / Wires and Phantom Bride still blow me away, Rubicon is one of their best closers for sure, and Geometric Headdress is wildly underrated imo

Geometric is maybe the Deftoniest Deftones song that's ever Deftoned

I know ain’t it great? Some of Stephen’s best riffs imo, I feel like he gets more and more complacent with the djun djun djun riffs the more strings he adds to his guitar but he got some pretty creative on that song.

I think it's an open secret that Steph wrote almost nothing for this album, it was 90% Chino. I think Hearts/Wires and T/T are the only riffs Steph actually contributed here

I'm mostly tired of Steph's riffs. Chino is much more up my alley as a songwriter

Same fs, I’ve said it before but the Team Sleep record is just as good as the best Deftones’ albums

If Deftones made a Smashing Pumpkins song.

"Pittura Infamente starts playing."

I don't really care about who is writing what when, but I actually prefer this over the two that preceded it. It feels less inconsistent than KNY and less bland than DE.

spun this for the first time in many years just now

- the first three tracks + hearts/wires + rubicon are the good stuff but are all hurt by the production to varying degrees

- geometric is a good song otherwise ruined by some terrible harsh vox from chino

- pittura and xenon are two of the most nothing songs the band ever released

- lmirl and phantom bride are maybe the two worst songs they ever wrote period

- the title track specifically is prob the biggest victim of the god awful production on this thing. feel like this could've been a career highlight had been on kny

not as bad as the haters make it out to be but at the same time i can't take anyone who thinks this isn't easily their worst album seriously
