Yeah hard to put my finger on what I like about this album. It's just solid songwriting and enjoyable songs that really do it for me.

Kid A was not safe, a good chunk of their fanbase hated that one when it came out. Of course it's accessible, but that hasn't much to do with how bold it was to make it. This on the other hand was safe but certainly unexpected nevertheless, given the more quirky characteristics of the three predecessors.

Well at least their business plan wasn't safe

Safe or not, album rules.

Yep, it's unbelievably smooth and has an insane replay value. Perfect as a backdrop, yet emotional and detailed enough to be strong as a concentrated listen.

Agreed! That's a nice quality for an album to have!

I mean, yeah, it's not a bad thing that it isn't experimental, that's cool.

Making a “safe” album was almost unsafe for Radiohead, after past releases people basically expected crazy experimentation

I'm glad this turned out the way it did after how strange the previous 00s releases were. Even though I love most of HTTT, I feel like it was kinda uneasy footing in terms of what the band wanted to do after the Kid A/Amnesiac project. It's kinda all-over-the-place and messy sounding.

I'm not too crazy about Faust Arp and House of Cards, but the rest of the album is so unbelievably good that I can't not 5 it. It also certainly helps that Reckoner is possibly my favourite song of all time

'House of Cards' grows into one of the best here given 10 years of listening though

wow its my least fav

I agree that Faust Arp and House of Cards are the weakest ones theoretically, but they don't hurt its awesomeness because of how perfectly they are placed.

'House of Cards' just holds the most nostalgia for me now - I guess because I rarely listened to it outside of listening to the album as a whole...and that's worked wonders for it.
