It's Brand New by the numbers, but it's still Brand New. It's great for sure and still holds up extremely well, but it didn't do anything different in the way each previous record attempted to do, which is core to the charm of DE, TDAG, and Daisy (for me at least).

Sci fi is a great mix/combination of all of their albums, which makes sense with it being their last album and all. It was a great testament, celebration of and fitting swan song for their career.

Can't believe this is already two years old today. Will never forget seeing the updates start to come in about someone streaming the new album on an exclusive Facebook group. I think that's the fastest I ever joined a group on social media. Then when it officially dropped a few hours later...man, what a ride.

Some odd developments: apparently Lacey went cliff diving and suffered a fracture in his back somewhere, spent days in the ER wondering if he'd be paralyzed, but is ok.
There was also some reddit post about him working in the studio to produce an EP for some band I never heard of.

Yikes, cliff driving? I hope he's okay, both physically and mentally, after all these things.

I’m still really happy Brand New ended their career with this. I think this is my favorite album of theirs. It makes me feel stuff

"I wonder what was at the bottom of that cliff"
Maybe he was looking for gold
Maybe he was looking for a hand to hold

waste is such a fuckin good song lol

right? Was surprised how lowly some people rate that one.
The You Are Not Alone bridge section is stunning

Waste is amazing, agreed. One of my favorite here.

it's pretty and all, but it's also just super generic. basic 4 chord progression, over-processed snare that almost sounds fake, idk. BN is really good at songwriting, but Waste isn't a great example of that
