the production really is weird, it sounds like an unmixed unmastered demo version of the album it couldve been

you're right climactic but I still love this album especially the back half. I'm glad Steph isn't here mucking up the works

Acid Hologram probably in my top 10 Deftones

production drags this down, sounds like it's made of plastic

i've listened to this so much since it's release that I'm weirdly kinda feeling like this is one of their most listenable albums just cause it so easily goes through one ear and out the other
not really any bad moments, but not much really stands out either. just kinda there

It is like that senses fail album The Fire that had bad production making it unlistenable.

idk at this point, 7 fucking years on, I couldn’t picture the album sounding any other way.
A remix would be cool but I like the songs enough as is.

A remix for this is almost necessary. This album just sounds so rough around the edges, shame too cause it has some serious heaters (Acid Hologram, Rubicon, Phantom Bride)

Yeah I think this needs a remix. Almost all of their albums are heavily compressed so people wouldn't have suddenly noticed if it was just that.
It sounds unfinished with randomic levels, though some songs are luckier than others. Geometric Headdress is awful in that regard, almost everything other than the vocals is way too quiet and at times nearly inaudible (like the ominous synth in the verses). There is an awesome song in there, with some of Abe's best drumming, but I can't fault people for literally not hearing it
still, I believe (an ideal version of) almost every song here is high-tier Deftones. Possibly their most complex stuff. Even one as seemingly straightforward as Doomed User has that dissonant meltdown that transitions into a bit with smooth shuffled drums in contrast

I would LOVE to hear a remix and remaster of this album. I'm curious if it would make a huge difference or not.

"Album's the tits, better than Ohms"
Not better than Ohms at all, but still enjoyable fs. Also weirdest produced Deftones album. Depending on the day I feel the production is terrible or it gives the album a very unique personality.
PS: Still underrated af album tbh. I don't know where the hate comes from...

it's about on the same level as kny
which makes it a bottom-tier deftones album
