This fucking album makes me cry dude
That warbling volume thing for the backup singers on Time is unreal
THE SUN IS THE SAME IN A RELATIVE WAY BUT YOU’RE OLDER
SHORTER OF BREATH
AND ONE DAY CLOSER TO DEATH

Watching the live in Pompeii movie and seeing footage of these guys making this album and talking about where their heads were at has unlocked a new level of DSOTM enjoyment that i didn’t know was possible

Ayyyy
They really never made another album like this. I guess all their records are pretty unique compared to one another but I’m just feeling struck by that rn

I think WYWH had some similar themes, but was obviously specifically about Syd, whereas this deals in a lot of different aspects of life. I understand why WYWH has a higher avg here but I dont agree with it. What this album accomplished goes well beyond music and has been a mental/emotional rock for me for 20-plus years

forget WYWH having a higher average than this, the fact that it's one of the top 5ish rated albums across this site and RYM, gtfo
ya this easily clears WYWH

Yeah, i guess i meant sonically. Syd is thematically or lyrically present in many of their post-Syd albums in one way or another. But this thing has a particular pillow-y and sparkly sound that i don’t hear consistently across their other records. Meddle would be the closest in that regard i suppose
Easily clears WYWH [2]

have i subscribed to that take on this page yet, oops no let's call that a [3]
tracklist cohesion and lovely waking/sleeping liminal gauziness on this are on another level and set it apart from the other 3 classics. Dogs/Pigs/Shine On hit the same highs, but this will always be *the* PF album

I agree John.
Work of art.

Somehow, I can agree with that, despite I personaly prefer WYWH. However, I know this is the PF album and probably the most important and known prog album ever.
As zakalwe said, this is the work a of art, the work of art by excellence.
