"Gwyn went off and failed, Gwynevere got hitched to a foreign god, the Nameless King sided with the dragons like a berk. Gwyndolin is the only one that stuck around. He's the one who gives you the vessel and sends you off to save the world"

Gywndolin was the only one who didn't have the good sense to jump ship tbh; Nameless got the best of it, and Gwynevere enjoyed coming back to be queen of Lothric

Do you guys think what your favorite songs from an album end up being are inevitable in every possible timeline, or can circumstances of where/how/when you listen change your impression of each song making a lasting impact on what your favorite songs are?

Like, if I listened to this album at a different time in my life with different things going on could my favorite songs be completely different? I wonder how much of my taste is based on a growing impression based on the seed of the FIRST impression, or if my taste is sort of static and less impacted by that kind of snow-ball effect where each listen evolves and adds to existing feelings.

Interesting question. I'd say it really depends on what kind of music listener/person you are, and that it therefore really differs between people. I tend to think circumstances don't have a big impact on me, as I'm more of a 'rational' listener instead of a more 'emotional' one (if that makes any sense?), meaning that most of the time I'm appreciating music, instead of emotionally connecting with it.

Besides, sometimes my favourite song only begins to stand out after 10+ listens.

I do think that appreciation of an album would be different in different circumstances, because of shifting interests in genres. But individual songs? Not so much.

For me at least, I'm a very emotional listener. Circumstance has everything to do with this. I know for a fact I wouldn't love this album the way I do if it weren't for the circumstances surrounding that first listen. Memories and emotions attach themselves to records for me, and that's what makes them so vitally important.

Another way to put it is this: for example one of the first bands I ever loved was the all American rejects. However, if instead of the all American rejects I heard something different in its place like yellowcard or simple plan, I would've loved either of those bands instead.

Burn the Witch sounds nothing like any other Radiohead song - on their ninth album, that's quite an achievement.

Funny thread to post that comment in. This might be one of the closest-sounding albums to OKC they have made since...

I'm just teasing for not having any of them as classics. All in good fun.
