The Hunter and Hunter/Heritage tour really killed my enthusiasm for Mastodon. Hopefully their new one picks me up again.

tempest, actually my fav by Mastodon is Crack The Skye, by a long shot. Leviathan is better than this, at least it does bring to the table some consistency and some pretty good ideas, although it is by no means an amazing album and does suffer from shitty production. This is sort of Leviathan's younger brother that features every single thing that is wrong about Leviathan, and wherein lie Leviathan's great ideas and formulas, on Blood Mountain's case it's just average, straight-forward riffage that doesn't appeal to me anyhow.

this has some awesome tracks. probably the last mastodon album i would listen to in one sitting given
the choice (i don't find it to flow that well), but its still great. also
