from cold bloody war!!!

Great album! Iron Maiden established a weird pattern since Dickinson-Smith reunion: Great then average, great again etc pp

Meaning we will have an average one up next...

"but cant compare this to their 80s albums"

You really can though.

Also don't find the lyrics on here any more 'dumb' than a lot of their 80's lyrics.

so this is one of the best heavy metal albums ever recorded JT?

In terms of traditional-style heavy metal I’d say it’s up there with my favourites. It may not have had the influence, impact or historical importance of some of their 80’s albums due to the time period in which it was released nor does it have any songs that are as iconic as the highlights from those albums (which again also relates to the context of when the albums were released) but as an album, in terms of quality and consistency, I’d say it’s as good if not better than their Bruce-fronted 80’s albums.

This one was good but I feel the long track policy is starting to drag, nothing really stayed on my mind, and Bruce doesn't sound good in the slow intros of almost every track. Off to The Final Frontier!

Totally mediocre as far as I'm concerned. Final Frontier was a clear improvement from this one.

I love final frontier hard.

and yeah early maiden can be a little formulaic with the repetitive bass lines.

but they still rule all day

It was great live but people didn't know the lyrics and sung the wrong parts every time. Dickinson got pretty upset haha
