i mean it kind of makes sense, albatross is the kind of album you connect with as a depressed teen (which is one of the strongest connections you can have w an album) and then it turns out that it still sounds good in ur 20s which can't be said for most depressed teen albums so u rate it highly and yes no just me ok that's also possible

Nostalgic factors are the best explanation. Not to overdo the BN comparisons, but I always felt the same way about Deja Entendu. Like, yeah it's good, but it's hard to relate to in your late 20's or older...TDAG/Daisy/SF easily clear it. Here, NMG = TDAG, Foxing = Daisy, and Albatross = Deja.

ive always seen albatross / dealer as more of a yfw / deja thing in that albatross / yfw are the most "of their time" albums in their discog and then on the follow up they went more textural
with the asterisk that albatross is much better than yfw
