the only CW album that would make a dumber comparison would be Hiss Spun

that said, Beth's voice is obviously in an entirely different league to Chelsea's, but this is narrowly the stronger album. Much more aesthetically engaging and adventurous musically, don't have a super strong opinion on either but I think this also scrapes a win on sheer number of Very Good Songs too. could probably have forgotten about the Beth album by this time tomorrow, but this one will stay with me through the rest of the year even if I don't jam it again

is that the same as alice in chains? my friend told me to listen to alice in chains. frankly i’m still scared from some of the minor chords on the new billie eilish i don’t wanna push it too far

"Much more aesthetically engaging and adventurous musically"

eh, don't think I've ever disagreed with you more on anything

I can see calling this a stronger collection of songs (depends on your preferences) and it's certainly cohesive in terms of selling a vibe and flow, but Beth explores more territory. If anything, you could possibly fault her for overpacking Lives Outgrown with too many ideas

is it dark / actually good tho?

and people been comparing anything and everything to CW. This is also one of the five albums Sput has actually cared about recently, so I thought why not plug BG here (however tenuously linked they may be)

I’m honestly thinking it really might be my favorite thing she’s ever done. It’s between this, Abyss, and Pain Is Beauty. And I think this record trims some of the fat that those records had.

I really don’t feel like there’s a second wasted on this record, which is funny now because I remember feeling kinda bummed when I found out this record was “only” like 44 mins or whatever.

That whole last verse is some of Chelsea’s best lyricism imo
