I mean gorguts

They're right up there for me. Personally, I think the quality gap between their best/worst (OBSCURA to CONSIDERED DEAD, obviously this is totally subjective) is a bit larger than the gap between Immolation's best/worst (CLOSE TO A WORLD BELOW to DAWN OF POSSESSION, yes I also realize this is an unusual take and yes I do think KINGDOM OF CONSPIRACY is massively underrated by almost everyone). But again, entirely subjective and we're very nearly splitting hairs here because there isn't a single "bad" album among both bands combined.

And to further muddy the waters, of the two, Gorguts has the overall higher peak (OBSCURA).

or maybe Obscura is the most overrated of all thus making the Gorguts album ranges from 3.9-4.4 whereas Immo ranges from 3.4 to 4.5 (⌐■_■)

If anything, Obscura is underrated. Should be 5.0.

Worst gorguts imo is colored sands, which is a 4.5. Immolation has been very consistent but their mid-late career stuff dipped a little in quality with HR and KoC and Gorguts has been consistently amazing



I also think Considered Dead is a hidden treasure to a degree. A lot of the riffs and leads are pretty legendary/iconic for me. But I am a diehard guts fanboy so I guess take it all w/ a grain of salt

To be fair, I will say that immolation's first 5 is really the only stretch of 5 albums outside of defeated sanity (psalms-sanguinary) that can rival guts' discog in terms of consistent ass kickery

Yeah idk, when I last did an Immo discog run, DAWN OF POSSESSION just felt the most... idk... "by the numbers" to me. Not bad by any stretch (in fact I still think it's really good), I just happen to prefer literally every album after it more (yes even HARNESSING RUIN and KINGDOM OF CONSPIRACY). Something about those albums were more interesting to me, even if not quite as "pure dm riffage" as DAWN. But again, this is mostly splitting hairs because Immo is one of the few bands with 5+ albums and not a single one rates below 6/10 for me. Gorguts is another such band. (As are Sonic Youth...Swans...Fugazi...) Rarefied air.
