Yeah underoath pre reunion does slap. But most peeps in the metalcore scene have already seen them plenty of times and they're really not anything amazing live imo. Especially now adays, I'm sure it would feel a bit off.
I'm hoping periphery does a headlining tour after the current one wraps. I would definitely like to see a full set of theirs, not rushed so underoath can come out and do the same thing we've seen countless times.

A name only a cool and mature adult would choose, truly.
Ra-ra-radio has grown on me to be something I can just kind of laugh at and move on with the song (the back half goes so hard) but honestly hearing that shit for the first time when I put on Juggernaut, especially after Spencer's delivery through the entire intro track of Alpha being some of my least favorite, almost had me shutting the album off and never going back. Suffice to say I'm glad that wasn't the case, but damn I decidedly did not find it dope.
I'm sure they'll headline soon. Define the Great line is one of my favorite albums and a post hardcore masterpiece imo but damn Underoath came back from hiatus and decided to be entirely uninteresting now.
Also everybody talking about Wax Wings but I feel like it's a case in point for my main gripe with P5, it just feels like the It's Only Smiles riff rehashed but then none of the rest of the song is as strong as Smiles melodically for me. Still think it's a fine song but isn't a standout even after 5 or so playthroughs

I don't mind the valley-girl inflection you mention. Heavy Heart is one of my favorites on there, if I really had to cut anything off Alpha it'd likely be MK Ultra. Never really been into that side of Periphery as much as the more soaring melodic stuff. I've learned to just kinda tolerate that as part of their sound. Might be why I've been taking more to TesseracT lately and have high hopes for what they do next comparative to this.
My main feeling with Wax Wings is the lyrics don't make a ton of sense and sound a bit like absurdist humor, if it had a different lyrical motif I'd be a bit more into it.

I've spoken to a lot of people and it's definitely a matter of opinion that seems to go either way (yours being the wrong one, it's annoying as hell and how dare you enjoy it) [and MK Ultra slaps]
Honestly I'm just happy with how much better he sounds live, he was never *bad* just very like, that kind of running around stage/running out of breath/dipping way out of tune all the time while putting on a show which happens with a lot of vocalists live, but shitty out of tune singing will ruin a live performance for me so fast, so I was really happy and impressed to see him killing it at the P4 show I saw.
EDIT: Okay I really need to get used to the double spacing format of this site I look like a total fuckin noob jabroni right now.

Silhouette is beautiful. Vocal performance on this album is awesome. Never been a huge fan of Spence but he killed it on this

I still kinda think his P3 melodies are his best but I'm happy he's still sounding tight as ever.

given it many listens now and idk dracul gras is nothing special imo, think its my least fave track here (silhouette doesn't really count) and the only thing on here i like less after repeated listens
when people say "this is the same album yet again" i heavily disagree... but can point to like half a dozen riffs/ideas in that song that sound eerily similar to things in older songs, and not really in way where it feels like they meant to do it either

they still haven't topped the debut imo
even though spencer was kind of annoying
