@storm this is their best album in over a decade, if not ever... so if you don't like this you'll at least be able to put them to bed for good

Like Alex said, this would be a good "last try" kind of album. As you can see it's pretty high on most people's rankings.

Basically expect Shogun with flatter production, less memorable lyricism and slightly better drumming. That's just me though.

Solid take but I def can't see new Parkway on par with this lol

Saw these guys for the first time in 5 years, and they're even better than I remember. Court of the dragon went so damn hard live

At least they're not as bad as on Sin

Yeah easily in their top 3, I'm fan-biased but still. Hope the next one's coming along soon lol.

People can understandably rag on the vocals but the guy's definitely improved his cleans, though I wish he'd go harder on the screams like before.

This rules pretty hard! I am in a Trivium phase again for the first time in ages. Feels good

This is probably my favorite of theirs, even as someone who's a fan of their earlier stuff as well

A good take imo. This definitely is more epic than the last few album, while maintaining their energy. Love the last trilogy a lot tbh and they age quite good so far

Seeing these guys soon and the last two albums are the only ones I've actually listened to... Liked both of them, but the band haven't quite clicked with me yet. Which album will change that?

Idk, try Shogun for more epic stuff, try In Waves for catchy, poppy mainstream metal. But I guess the last three albums are a better representation of their current state as a band.

Ascendancy for that youthful energy and the awesome solos. A great record all the way through

"try In Waves for catchy, poppy mainstream metal."

also has some of the most heavy/extreme songs they've ever recorded coincidentally... such a weird record lmao

Yea, In Waves is a lot at the same time. Funny how well it works imo, I really appreciate the scope of In Waves

In Waves sounds like it could pique my interest! I'm a sucker for a good hook to be fair, The Defiant may be me favourite Trivium song so far just from that factor alone.

In Waves is a mess but it has fun stuff.

The Sin and the Sentence is better though. It has the same variety but it feels more cohesive, also the songs are just better on average .
