I'll admit I like Jim Jones a bit more then Rabbit Hole. Reminds me of Chevelle's older stuff a bit more.

the new songs remind me of what helmet's newest album is to helmet's earlier output
trying to force the essence of something without the understanding that lies underneath that essence + stupid ass production that magnifies a bunch of loose overly rough notes instead of cohesion of those notes + special ed lyrics
i maintain even stronger now that the band needs a proper bassist to beat them into submission and bounce ideas off of again

@FrozenFirebug I listened to the new album in full and I wasn't impressed at all. Production sounds very flat and yes they need a bassist. Apparently Pete wrote all the bass parts and it doesn't work.

"Wolves (Love & Light)" is cool though.

Less than one listen through and I think Pete's obviously taking some vocal risks here. Some work, some don't and I generally think his vocals are too high in the mix.
This will need many more spins before I figure out my thoughts on it.

Chevelle usually misses the mark with their production imo. It’s never terrible, but never great and therefore the band’s sound is never elevated to the heights I think it’s capable of. My gripe is usually with the drum sounds more than anything.

The new album is growing on me, but yeah production still drags it down a bit though maybe not as much as this album.

seems they took care of the production and recordings themselves this time

Just starting my run on the new album, 'Pale Horse' chorus is pretty cool.

Yeah, can't deny the production is a little flat in places - 'Wolves (Love & Light)' feels like it's missing some meat for how heavy a song it is.

AI Phobias goes hard
Album starts pretty strong, then becomes kinda mid in the middle then ends on a high note with last two songs

@Aerisavion With WWN or Sci-Fi Crimes production it would have been far more impactful imo

New album rocks. Pale Horse, Wolves, and the closer are early highlights for me
Production does sound a bit flat but the songs are so good i can overlook it
