I've almost given up hoping for them to play anything from TPS and Bilateral. I was surprised they played Mb. Indifferentia. They sound softer now anyway so the songs wouldn't have the same intensity anyway sadly

Yeah, it seems they usually play one song from Bilateral: Aquired Taste or Mb. Indifferentia which fit their current style really well, while the more chaotic stuff and TPS gets ignored unfortunately. I like that they always focus on their newest material, it‘s just sad that I‘ll probably never get to experience much of their old stuff live. Bilateral 10 year anniversary tour maybe... please?

When I saw them in Hannover in 2018 they played "Acquired Taste" and nothing else from the first two. I think Einar seriously dislikes TPS nowadays. Anyways, the concert was great though the stream crashed for me twice in between the songs.

From Bilateral they only play MB, Acquired Taste. Forced Entry occasionally. Even more rarely, bilateral title track. No songs from TPS since Einar really hates it now.
Got lucky on their Warsaw concert where they played both mb and slave so it felt really good man. I wish they did play Salt and Lower more tho, both fit their current sound and are sick songs

Salt is an awesome song, wish they'd play that live

I've been sleeping on this because I didn't like Malina that much. I couldn't really say why, just something about the sound and the way the songs were put together didn't really do it why.
The review makes this sound interesting enough, though.

I didn't really like Malina and love this tbh

Malina was a really cool change into a softer side while still maintaining some of their older elements, but this just didn't do it for me. Not bad, but definitely the weakest. The Sky Is Red is easily the best track on here
I'm not angry Einar, just disappointed :^(

Might have to spin a few more times to see if it clicks at all

Malina is definitely more instrumentally technical than this. Einar sounds great on both, though.

Yeah Einar's voice was never an issue as much as creative direction. He's always sounded great

Word, I'm underwhelmed too. I'll have to jam this some more. It's not bad... just not what I've dug about them.

I dig this so much. Like. I Lose Hope is so good. Fantastic album, really

Listening again, several songs in... it's great music... But it sounds like the rest of the band are at 30%. I think knowing how capable the whole group is and how they're hardly ever playing to their capacity is what bums me out. It's very pretty, though. Einar's vocals are excellent on this.

I‘m interested in what direction they are going next. Surely they won‘t go even softer than this...?

If they continue their path since Malina then it will be. Who knows with this band. They may jump around. They've got the skill to go either way.

Same here. A return to their heavier side would be welcome but knowing the direction of their musical evolution as of now, it's unlikely.

It is truly is a grower but so was Malina. Still do wish we got more of that golden prayers sound tho

nice to see this album going up to 3.8 since it was at 3.5 or 3.6 the last time I checked

Yeah I think the sidelining of the other players is what's killing me. With some combination of Einar's vocals not being as compelling as past records.
