Been on a huge Bowie kick lately as I read through one of his many biographies. I'm sure it's been said before but his influence is undeniable here.

Like reading about his tours during the Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane/Diamond Dogs era were... I can't help but think seeing Tyler on the Igor tour is the closest I'll see to that kind of live presentation. Where the performer is no longer the performer, but the character encapsulated in the songs brought to life. Really neat concept even if I prefer some of the artists' other albums in both cases.

I think you could make an argument that he’s taking all the criticisms people have said of him, “he should sing less” “his production is amateurish” “his songs are too sappy now”, and did exactly those things more on purpose to spite his detractors. A fuck you album, if you will.
