i really don't like smartfriend. the verses annoy the shit out of me and it's one of their clumsiest choruses rhythm wise.

Rap is fine but rap and metal make for a precarious partnership. I mean, I can't think of any attempt at the combination that I really love. And I can think of lots that are cringe.



That said, the track record of attempts is so awful that it's hard to truly *hear* a new attempt without the negative associations of rap+metal colouring the listen. These Black Claws definitely set off nu metal comparisons in my mind, which left a bad taste in my mouth, but on further listens it's not terrible. I still don't love it but I don't need to skip it either.

I actually like some rap but like mentioned before, it rarely works in heavy genres and why keep trying? It sounds awful. Also why does the rap song have their worst lyrics ever? "One straw in the drain, One word that you failed to sustain" ahhh I cringe.
