I thought the track was really good tbh. He simplified his flow and actually said actual things instead of just saying a bunch of words that happen to rhyme with each other over a pretty minimalist beat. No hook either. Not saying it's as good as his 98-00 material but that's pretty much the formula for those albums.

Yeah, I actually thought Em did something different on this. It wasn't just the usual self-masturbatory fast rapping and impossible rhyme schemes that he tries to pull on every track now. It was a lot more focused, akin to his earlier material like alex said

I really hope he doesn’t. I want this beef to die. I’m so tired of seeing it all over my social media feeds

Yeah there's not really much of anything else to say in this beef, I highly doubt he got some dirt on him about nothing.

It's pretty low hanging fruit to be giving a whole track to someone like mgk - Even half a verse is too much for an all time great like Em to be devoting to what's less than insect next to him - But Killshot was very funny and effective. Can't stop laughing at the diddy line

Mgk is low hanging fruit? In terms of hip hop sure but this is the same guy that made a career kf throwing shots at boybands and white Michael Jackson and the Mariah Carey types. At least MGK can actually formulate an actual response. And it's not really like any of the other people Eminem has written full on diss tracks for have been hot shit either outside of Ja Rule who literally everyone was making diss tracks for at that time.

If Em responding to MGK is punching down, he's been punching down his entire career. This isn't some "Oh how the mighty have fallen" shit, this is how he's always been.

I'm pretty sure he meant in terms of hip-hop. There was no point in making an entire track devoted to a white wanna-be rapper simply because it is obvious they are not on the same level.

It looks like he didn't take too much time for it though. Page Kennedy tweeted he made the track for 13 minutes.

They've been making music of similar quality for a while now wdym?

And Eminem has never exactly been one to take the high road like ever so why expect that out of him now at arguably the lowest and most reactionary point of his career? Like I don't understand this idea that he's too big to respond to MGK (who fyi is def more popular than you and a lot of people here are trying to make him out to be. Not just anybody can diss Eminem and get 75 million views). He's not and he never has been.

You'd have to have zero knowledge of rap to claim they are even comparable. Even if Eminem's past releases haven't been up to par musically, rapping skills wise I don't see how it can ever be a discussion tbh. Like em said his biggest flops are still going to be better than MGK's best moments.

I mean everyone expected him to answer MGK, so it's not like people expected him to take the high road. Em at any point in his career would've responded to him because he likes this sort of shit, he loves the competitiveness of it.

Not that this even fucking matters in this discussion but MGK is literally a poor man's Eminem, even down to the flows and (for the most part as of late) crap lyrics. His albums are pretty much small scale Recovery rip-offs. To say they aren't comparable musically is kinda disrespectful to MGK when he's spent his whole career trying to be Eminem (as Eminem points out in the track).

I just think it's dumb for people to be like "Em shouldn't have even give him the light of day" as if this is Drake/Joe Budden when it is very clearly not, and that "Em is punching down lmao dude is fucking washed" when he's always done this.

This track is vintage Em. This is a vintage Em beef where Em fucking bodies a dude's career for saying shit about his daughter (slight exaggeration but you get it). I don't like that a lot of people are trying to frame it as if it's something less than that.

Okay, but him trying to be Eminem doesn't mean he's ever gotten close to his ability. A cheap imitation, yeah maybe. And of course they are comparable, everyone can be compared to anyone, but what i meant was there might be 4-5 people alive that would try to argue that MGK is better or even on the same level as Eminem but we know what the objective consensus is. Therefore it's not really up for discussion.

I mean they have a lot of crossover appeal between their fanbases. Hell, Lace Up has a higher avg than quite a few Eminem albums on here surprisingly. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there.

Killshot is pretty fun, but this is the most irrelevant beef humanly possible. It's like Deicide dropping a song about Five Finger Death Punch.

I concur except yesterday was opposite day and Eminem didn't suck and put out a song on par with his classic material so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Nah, this has some great songs.

The original mgk diss on not alike is also severly overlooked. I'd say it single-handendly proved why mgk had no chance to begin with.
