I'm really hoping it's Natural Disaster (the one they've been playing on some concerts for few months), I was really digging it. Add at least slightly less robotic mix in comparison to what Rebirth had and I'm in

Natural Disaster sounded quite interesting. I mostly hope they go back to the more organic production they had on One.

Well, at least they will use real drums this time around.

that should be a plus, but it could also be that they don't have money for proper recording and will sample most of it anyway lmfao

What did I miss? Why wouldn't they have real drums on the recording?

How is Sonder 5 years old already? I'll consider them (like I do any band) Officially Broken Up until they make a proper album announcement and give us a date. I feel like a lot of bands used covid as an excuse to dick us around waiting for new music. It's already made me hate The Contortionist haha. Sorry buds, but cryptic social media posts and the occasional new song and vague mention of Studio Time doesn't cut it anymore nor leave me salivating.

Thank god in the interim we have so many good bands who actually seem interested in recording music!

I actually agree mostly. Let's call it hiatus I guess. Moreso, I've cooled on them significantly since this released. Not nearly enough output to stay interested.

I agree it’s their best. One of the members said they couldn’t afford recording drums for a long time after One because of the debt the band accumulated. Given the fact that they still use sampled drum sounds in their monitor mix while performing live makes me think that’s only half of it. Hyperreal drums sounds are kind of a staple in the genre.

I made that post in a state of crankiness but....I still stand by it. With the asterisk: I understand that as you get out of your 20s it's a hell of a lot harder to tour ceaselessly, write lots of new music, and spend all your time on your passion when you have a life, partners, family to take care of.

These dudes are, what, all about 40 now? I....get it. But after we're spoiled by some bands to regular releases and then just....nothing, it can make it feel like we're hanging on for nothing. When they toured this album in 2018 Dan told us "we're working on new material right now!", so I'm sure there was a wrench in the gears sometime not long after, and then COVID was a good excuse to go on hiatus, but I wish they'd just tell the fans that.

And same: since 2018, a lot of new exciting music has been released, and what these guys do is just a little less novel for me. I'm not terribly excited anymore for their future output but I'm sure I'll gobble it up, and it's just a bonus if it's crazy-good.

can vouch or this. was in a band my entire 20's and as I approached 30 it became much more difficult. family life takes over and unless you want to go all the way there's no way to stick it out and set up tours and make albums. it's just too difficult and an insanely hard way to make a steady income

This band was cool when I first listened to them, but apart from some more traditional melodic and catchy songs that I think are genuine bangers, I just don't care that much anymore

can't be expected to make good music when you start as a fad band
